The Journey Continues

Hope everyone had a great and relaxing labor day weekend. Pat is hanging tough, feeling stronger everyday. Once the chemo leaves his system he is a different person. That chemo is some nasty stuff, it has no mercy, but you gotta do it. I just drove through the gates of our neighborhood for the 48th straight night without my husband. I miss him like crazy. Cancer is taking it's toll on all of us. Pat lies in the bed and fights it with every ounce of his being. At 99 Fairlane we fight it with all we can muster. Some days are just tougher than others. The love and support we get from family and friends is our safety net. Without it I can't imagine where we would be. The little things mean so much to me these days. Chloe holding my hand every morning when I pick up the phone at exactly 8 am to call Pat and see how his night was. All my children are showing so much concern not only for Pat but for my well being. They refuse to leave me at home alone not even for an hour. I am blessed with so much love.....thank you to everyone. We will beat this disease and be that much stronger after the battle. Cancer came knocking on the wrong door.
Love and good health to you all.
xoxoxo,
Jules

Self-pity by DH Lawrence

I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

I came across that mini-poem and it kept me thinking about you and how hard you continue to fight without giving up or complaining. It is rare to see so much strength and my admiriation for you and your family continues to grow daily. You are in the prayers of my family and me. You are all so amazing. I wish there was more we could do.

Sincerely,
Naomi

Hi Pat,

You look great!!!! It is amazing what love and support and fighting will do.

Where do you find the letter H?

In the middle of NOWHERE. Ha ha ha

I came across that one on one of the boys popscicle sticks.

I hope to see you this weekend if I can get Angie to come and watch the boys for a couple of hours. I wish the boys could come and visit. As you know they are very entertaining.

We miss you, get better.

Pat,
I find myself praying for you and your family throughout the day. I can be doing laundry or driving in the car and I become aware that I am praying for you. I know prayers are where you and your family get strength to fight this evil disease. Know that you are loved and thought of by so many, many people.

Hi Pat,

Well, We're off on our first big adventure in the "Home on Wheels" starting tomorrow....can't wait to see how that goes! It already has me frustrated since I couldn't get the refrigerator to turn on today. I'm sure Big Bob will get it going tonight. Hopefully when we get back you will be at home with your family where you belong. In the meantime, take care and keeping getting stronger.
Love you.

Nancy

Dear Pat and Julie,

Our names are Barbara and Vincent Kraus. I'm Jo Ann Sheikh's sister and Vincent is her brother-in-law.

We've heard so much about you both. You have an awesome family! You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We're anxious to hear more and more good news as each day passes.

Hey, isn't Jo Ann a sweetheart? She's my one and only sis--she's definitely a keeper! Jo Ann lets me know how Pat is doing and about how wonderful and supportive Julie and the rest of the family are. We truly wish you only the very best.

Your "Fountain Valley Fans,"
