Marathon Man

Pat has now been patiently and courageously lying in his hospital bed for 9 weeks and I day. So, after the Dr explained that what his body is going through to fight the leukemia is like us running a marathon everyday I nicknamed him "Marathon Man". Thank God that today he is feeling well, eating much better and he's in great spirits. His regular Doctor is gone for 10 days so we have Dr O'Donnell which may be a blessing in disguise since she is one of the leading doctors in the country on ALL. Pat really likes her, and it looks like she moved the start of his treatment up to this Monday...that is great news, he is more than ready to get a move on as you could imagine. His heart is still only working at 42%, which is a direct result of the chemo and the stress his body is under. The cardiologist is working to get it up to 45%, which is where they'd lke it to be for the transplant. Your prayers are most definitely working, thank you so much. Gotta run, Pat is ready to start his laps!! A great day to all of you.
Love,
Jules

Pat,

I'm glad to hear your next phase of treatment is around the corner. I like this Dr. O'Donnell already! I really admire your patience. It will pay off handsomely and you will be on the road to recovery sooner than you think! See you both on the weekend.

Hugs, Jo Ann

We are glad to read that things are going good for you. We just had a little scare with my dad as well. There truely is something to say about the power of prayer. You and your family are still in our thoughts and prayers. Sounds like a little change might be just what you all need.

Hi Pat,
I think we should call you Superman. You certainly are a man of steel. We will and are praying for this clinical test to be successful so you can get on with the transplant. Just know the Lord did not bring you this far to fail you now. You will soon be able to leap tall buildings with a single bound.(Well maybe not a tall building, but I am sure something more reasonable. Keep up the positive attitude and most importantly, keep your faith and trust in the Lord. He is good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings,
Mary Williams

Hi Smith's-I read this passage this morning:
"Life is no straight & easy corridor along which we travel free & unhampered, but a maze of passges, through which we must seek our way, lost & confused, now & again checked in a blind alley. But always, if we have faith, a door will open for us, not perhaps one that we ourselves would have thought of, but one that will ultimately prove good for us."
The door opens for "you all" this blessed Monday!
Love you- Teri

Hi. Pat\\\\\

Hi Pat and Jules,
Just a note to let you know Bil and I are praying and following your progress.. Sometimes someone new on the case is good. As you know Pat, ... we have had our share of hospitals and drs. and all that follows. Julie, When I read your note about you hope you both come away with something positive from this experience I assure you.... you will. I also remember the funny stories. Our girls were in the 5th and 6th grades when Bil had his first transplant. Bil spent 8 months out of 1 year in the hospital. There were Birthday parties when the candles were lite the fire alarms went off and all of the fire doors on the 5th floor slamed shut. Exciting. Then the huge electrical storms that I am not fond of. So I would gather the girls , blankets, pillows and all the goodies little girls take with them. Off to the hospital in the middle of the night I would go. Up the back stairs so security would not see us. That was only the begininning. I think you know Pat, Bil has had two transplants and 1 aortic anyersumn. Julie the last transplant was from our daughter Timery. A mothers nightmare both in surgery at one time. This last friday, Bil had surgery again. The removel of 3 lymph nodes in the neck. A squammous cell on his ear that developed into a preinueral invasion. The good news for us is the pathlogy report was good. Okay warning to all keep sun block on.
So kids here is my prayer...Fear knocks on the door and faith answers no one home. This time I said this so many times. My second advise is if you have a bad day Then have a bad day. But then pick up and move forward and remember we are all praying and I know you will come through this just like Bil. Faith is amazing. I know our prayers are being heard.
We think of you and your family often. Bil and Karen Gallio
