Happy to be Home

I can't tell you all how wonderful it is to have Pat back at home. His dogs have not left his side! I think this will be the medicine of all. I did have a momentary break down yesterday when I went to the pharmacy to pick up his meds. They handed me 22 different prescriptions! The pharmacist said that was a new record, what a record to break. Chloe and I spent the evening organizing all his medication into one large weekly pill dispenser, we've got it wired. We were back at City of Hope today for platelets and some hydration, but tomorrow we have the whole day off. I do have to ask, and only because I know I can....I need all our prayer warriors to get busy. Pat's leukemia has not responded yet to this new treatment. Dr. Zain said it may take more than one treatment and she is not yet overly concerned. Maybe I am expecting too much, but I just want my husband to get better....all the way better. I did find peace in my Aunt Mary's blog which said God is seldom early, but he is never late in answering our prayers. I know in the depth of my soul Pat will be cured, and that I must remain faithful and patient.....sometimes it's just so freaking hard. Waking up next to Pat was a gift, for that I am thankful. Good night to all our loved ones and be thankful for your gifts.
Love.
Jules
P.S. Aunt Marcie, you are so welcome for the gift. Thank you for all your prayers and inspiration.

Julie, Your update brings tears to my eyes. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. I wish there was something I could do to get that freaking Leukemia out of my brothers body! I hate it! I do have faith that this chemo will work...it just needs a little more time to "do the job"! The prayers will never stop!!!! Love Always, Maribeth

YOU WROTE: I need all our prayer warriors to get busy. Pat's leukemia has not responded yet to this new treatment. Dr. Zain said it may take more than one treatment and she is not yet overly concerned. Maybe I am expecting too much, but I just want my husband to get better....all the way better.
CONSIDER IT DONE! Your not expecting too much - that's your faith kicking in - and you have to see it for it to materialize! We personaly believe that if we all see you well and surfing again - you will, YOU WILL! :-) Pat you have a lot of people who love you and who are praying for you to get better - With all the faith you have behind you, you will get better and we think deep down you know you will too!
Have a blessed day!

Today Is The Best Day

Today is the best day, one more day full of Hope and Promise. It may rain a little, the wind may blow but the day is still mine, still yours, and still Ours to share. Tomorrow does not count yet, it is not here. So let us stay in today awhile in our happiness and joy, though we may yet still be tired from yesterday. Even in dark times, the Sun still shines, still promises new and better things to come, even the rain so filled with darkness can wash away the pain from the past. Let us start this day anew, You and I, and let the hopes and promises and even the tears, strengthen our resolve for the day laid out before Us.

For the Smith Family

With Love,

Good morning Julie & Pat,

First thing I do every morning is read your blog, have a good cry and marvel at the strength in your house! No doubt that Pat is the strongest man I've ever met - he continues to battle this with a calm that is unmatched and he makes us all proud and humble. Today I would like to take just a moment to thank our daughter, Julie for turning out to be more than I could have ever imagined when she was born. She has long been known as the "funniest girl in the family" but she has risen to such a higher place in the last year and a half. I do believe that her unique humor has been such a help to Pat - not everyone could get Pat to raise his arms every day and say "we will beat this"! You make your Dad and me proud every day and I want the whole world to know it!!!!

Anyway, so glad that Pat is home and getting the medicine that he so needed (and its not what is in those 22 pill bottles)- it's the love and comfort of home from Julie, Brady, Brock, Chloe and let's not forget Joey & Dewey. Love you all,
Mom

Hi Guys, I'm so glad you madeit home. We are keeping up the prayers in the 951...but here is a little hint. Never pray for patience... God does have a sence of humour as well. Pray for grace, Healing, peace of mind, comfort, but never patience or you might be waiting a long time. I prayed for patience once and I'm still waiting. LOL Keep up the fight Pat ....See you soon I hope.

Hey Pat - Just checking in on my mentor. I'm right there behind you following your lead. I know that you already know this, but you are not now - nor will you ever be - alone in this fight. Have a great weekend and soak in all of the love and positive energy that being home with your family can bring.

By the way, exactly who is your favorite sister? I certainly know that I'm Dave and Bob's favorite sister! Hahaha

Hi Pat, Julie & Fam-
Good to talk to you a couple days ago Julie :) I can't agree more with what your Mom said in her blog. It's all so true about each and every one of you. I had to laugh about "22"! I used to do about "12" meds. for my Mom. I thought that was a record, but you got me beat!! LOL Just make sure Pat takes em all....My Mom used to hide random pills in coffee cups in the back of the cupboard!! Oh yea, I almost forgot...I bought a mega phone today so I could be heard a little easier with the prayers (I think God's hearing aid batteries are running low) rather then him waiting on angels to bring new ones. Anyway, it works real well...scared the dog and cat! He's gotta hear me now!!
"Mega" Love and Prayers-

Hi Pat,

I was soooo glad to hear that you were home. The boys painted you a picture yesterday and wanted Robert to bring them to you. It must be really nice to sleep in your own bed, see your dogs & have your family all together.
Julie, your words are so touching and I really admire you and your family for all of your strength.
Let us know when we can come visit.

Patrick and Julie,

SOOOO glad to know you guys are home. What a gift! Something most take for granted. I saw something written on an ad, and it is so true, "Having someone to love is FAMILY, Having somewhere to go is HOME, "Having both is a BLESSING". We do continue to pray each day for a full recovery for your beautiful family Patrick and Julie. We love you. You're in our thoughts and prayers everyday.

Love,
The Barnards

Hi Pat Julie & family,
We continue to pray for you,& again know the Lord is working in His time. Now of course we want Him to hurry up, but He has a definite plan. My very favorite verse in the bible is Jeremiah 29:11 "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare & not for harm, to give you a furture with hope. When you come & pray to me I will hear you, When you search for me you will find me if you seek me with all of you heart. I will restore you & bring you back from captivity." He knows you are seeking Him with all of your heart, noone knows our heart like the Lord. Keep on trusting
Blessings,
Aunt Mary
