Rough Patch

We've hit a bit of a rough patch the last couple of days. The chemo treatment has made Pat very sick to his stomach. The nurses are doing everything they can to keep him as comfortable as possible, which basically means knocking him out...whatever works. The good news is the treatment is over. Now the long agonizing wait to see if it has done it's job. I hope and pray with every ounce of my being that he his in remission. It sure was great to have Brady do a "guest blog", it's therapeutic to be able to put our feelings to words. Our emotions are on such a rollercoaster...sadness, anger , fear of what we know and fear of the unknown. It would be easy to say why us? but why should it be anyone? No one deserves this. Not Pat, not the 20 something young man across the hall, not the mother whos children school age children sit outside her room and play on the computer to pass the hours. But we all have it and we will deal with it and we will kick it's butt! Thank you for your continued prayers...remission, strength and courage are on our wish list today. I read today, "there would be no majestic mountains without deep valleys", isn't that the truth?
Love,
Julie

Hi Pat & Julie & family!

Linda just forwarded me the link to your blog. Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. It's been a long time since I've seen you, and I miss the old days golfing and playing poker with you, Dave, Bob, Mike, etc. (and losing bets to all of you!)

Looking through your blog, you have a lot of people who love you and are pulling for you.

Take care! And I forget what's better a flush or full house???

Hi Pat, Julie & Family:
Having you in this condition is a really drastic way for me to learn what "blogging" is all about. This stuff about you're never to old to do things is usually a lot of crap, but after three tutorials, one from Bob and two from Nancy (Bob's doesn't count) I'm already doing it. Actually, Pat, besides hoping and praying for you to get out of there HEALTHY for yourself and Julie and the Kiddo's, I've got a fairly serious hit & run ding in the rear left panel of my MBZ and it's going to stay there until we can talk at the shop. I couldn't bear to have anyone else touch it, so get done with this thing and get back to doing what you do best. Just being you, and fixing my cars. Get well soon, and love to all of you from all of us.
Chuck, Jean and the family.

Hi Pat,

I'm sorry to hear that the last treatment hit you so hard, but you're one of the strongest people I know so I'm sure you're fighting through it.

Myself and the guys at the shop are thinking of you constantly and we are all praying for the news of your remission so you can get started with the bone marrow transplant.

Just a couple of big speed bumps on your road to recovery. You're going to beat this thing!!

Love,

Steve and The Guys

Pat, Julie & Family,

I know the day has yet to come to provide the good news for which all of us have all hoped and prayed. However I know in my heart that the breakthrough good news is just waiting out there for the right time to debut. I can only imagine the host of fears and unknowns that you awaken to each day-hoping that the nightmare will end and give back your life as you once knew it. Hang in there-it's coming. You are an amazing family-all smart enough to know that you have each other to rely upon as well as a staggering number of friends and extended family. Usually when so many people are this interested in one event, as they seem to be in the welfare of your family, there is a free trip to Europe or a new car to be won...have I missed something? I suspect there is little new to be said in the hopes, well wishes and prayers extended to all of you, especially to Pat since he is the one causing all the ruckus. Usually the strong silent type doesn't like being the center of attention. How quickly do you suppose he would relinquish the starring role in this production if he only had the choice? You have to know he's fighting back with every ounce of strength he can muster. I've seen him fight before-even the dumb money goes with Pat in this match. Leukemia has arrogantly stepped up and out of it's class this time and is ripe for an old fashion "A.W.O.S" (That's "Ass Whippin On Site" for the uninitiated).

Julie, you are one of my favorite people on the face of this earth and I lack adequate words to tell you just how very proud I am to see you stand with Pat against the unfair attack of this beast and shake your fist in it's hideous face. I know how much you love Pat and your family, I know you're angry, I know you're afraid of what the future holds, Iknow you'll win and I certainly know you are a most precious daughter. My daughter. There seems to be an ever increasing number of occasions when this father can't seem to help. This problem is of course light years beyond me. So, since I have no magic solution to offer, I will humbly join with the growing numbers that sit on the sidelines eager to enter the fray and help kick some butt; and thinks of your family often and holds them, ever so closely and gently, in our hearts and prayers. Please remember Mom and I are always here-you've only to ask.

Love and Admiration,
Dad

Julie, What a wonderful post from your dad.. He sure knows how to put all our feelings into words. I can see how he is your rock. Like I keep saying we are here for you and will do whatever you need. Love ya, Sandy

Pat, I'm still waiting for the word when you want me to come bore you... Keep getting stronger and eat your 3 meals a day.. You will get a kick out of this, Ryan didn't want to be late for school yesterday so he decided to take the car pool lane from Ladera to Irvine. He was lucky and didn't get a ticket. Anyway, always thinking of you!! Love ya Lot's, Sista Sandy
